Okinawa Photographer- Yomitan Village- into the sea

The Fisherman
The fisherman rows his boat along
His arms are beautifully brown and strong
He throws his net into the sea
And pulls out a fish as big as me!

Okinawa Photographer- Kurashiki Dam - paper boats

Paper Boats
Day by day I float my paper boat one by one down the running stream.
In bid black letters I write my name on them and the name of the village where I live.
I hope that someone in some strange land will find them and know who I a,.
I load my little boats with shiuli flower from our garden, and
hope that these blooms of the dawn will be carried safely to land in the night.
I launch my paper boats and look up into the sky and see the
little clouds setting thee white bulging sails.
I know not what playmate of mine in the sky sends them down the air to race with my boats!
When night comes I bury my face in my arms and dream that my
paper boats float on and on under the midnight stars.
The fairies of sleep are sailing in them, and the lading ins
their basket full of dreams.

Okinawa Photographer- Daily Snaps - colors

ut pictura poesis
as is painting, so is poetry

Typhoon Trio's first Summer Weekend!

Daily Snaps is a blog post of an isolated observation into my life. If you have frequented the blog before you have noticed that I am not a writer. If you are new to Rising Sun Memories' Daily Snap blog post please don't expect anything eloquent. But do expect to share a moment in my life thru photographs and sometimes a few words.

The photographs from Daily Snaps are for sharing so I do not expect to get a technical award. Most of the time they will be SOOC "straight out of camera" or with some basic editing of cropping.

Okinawa Photographer- ETSY Featured Vendor- Imagination Couture

I have been obsessed with finding gorgeous angel wings for my Besties' newborn session which will be in September. The angel theme came about because we are both married to U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen. The Pararescue symbol is the Angel of Mercy. So off I went surfing the internet for the perfect angel wings. After searching for months, she was 20 weeks along when I contacted the makers of the Victoria Secrets Angel wings for a quote. I was fine with the cost because this was my gift to my Bestie and her husband. Plus my besties' husband has missed their first pregnancy due to him being deployed.

Then it happened, I don't know recall exactly how I came across Imagination Couture but I was blown away from the quality of the items on her Etsy store. Immediately, I contacted Michelle to discuss placing an order for September. I was so excited I couldn't wait til then so I ordered one of the Baby Cherub angel wings for newborns. It was for a good cause =) Michelle is selling the cherub wings as part of the fundraiser for humanity Healing NPO and Global Giving for Japan.

OMG...when I received the little package it weighed nothing lol but I was blown away when I unwrapped the angel wings. I was so moved by it's beauty and delicate work of art. I'm very excited to share with you a fabulous artist with artwork that will bring your inner child out.

Thank you, Michelle for a little piece of heaven here on earth.

tell us a little about you...
My name is Michelle Acevedo and I am the sole owner and designer for Imagination Couture. I grew up in a creative matriarchal family where there was boundless inspiration of painting, print work, photography, room design, crocheting, knitting and endless good conversation. It seems funny to me to this day that I have applied my childhood environment and love of creating to make props for artist and photographers.

how long have you been making wearable art?
I have been a budding artist since I could hold a crayon
Out of my love for children and childlike imagination I have developed a line of wearable art portrait apparel specifically designed for artists so we can try to capture the whimsy & beauty of children in visual arts of keepsakes, timeless photography and paintings.

how would you describe your style?
I would say my style is a little whimsical, splashed with nature, and also a little angelic. I have been specializing in angel wings for about 3 years now and I often do fundraisers to aid globalgiving.org and humanityhealing.org in their constant battle to save people and animals in the most dire of circumstances. This is my way of giving back. The way I see it if each person saved one being, then all of them would be saved right? IN the words of Ghandi, "We are the change we wish to see in this world."

hopes for future? (business and life)
My hope for the future would be to have a line of portrait studios with my props that would donate a substantial amount of funds to save the world...a few more beings at a time. I would call it "Angles Everyday" portrait studio. All of my patrons would be angels for people they do not even know, all across the globe 0=)
In my lifetime I feel it is important to teach my children compassion, kindness, strength and faith. It would be my ultimate vision to see this world a more balanced and complete place where no child would ever starve and humanity lived as one beautiful race taking care of our planet, our animals, and each other.

Okinawa Military Family Photographer- Soldier's Angel

I am a soldier in their army
They are the soldiers of my heart.
I try to make them smile again~
Though it tears me apart.
Their bravery leaves me spellbound;
I try to be a small part`
Of bringing them back again~
They are the soldier of my heart.

"The Yellow Ribbon Fund was created in 2005 to assist our injured service members and their families while they recuperate at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. Our mission began when the father of an injured Marine introduced two of our volunteers to staff at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval and they told us what needs were not met by other donors.
In five years contributors made through the Yellow Ribbon Fund have provided the following for injured service members and their families: over 1,100 free rental cars spanning 49,000 free rental car days: over 16,000 free taxi rides: over 7,300 free hotel room nights; and 46 families have used our four apartments for almost 6,000 nights; and hundreds of free tickets to sporting games, concerts and plays, and hundreds of lunches, dinners, golf games, duck and goose hunts, fishing trips, and other activities."

Okinawa Children Photographer- Murasaki Mura

A Book
A book, I think, is very like
A little golden door
That takes me into places
Where I've never been before.
It leads me into fairyland
Or countries strange and far
And, best of all, the golden door
Always stays ajar.

Okinawa Newborn Photography - grown up

Walk A Little Slower Daddy
I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.
