Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- sweet pea

delicate, blissful pleasure

Daily Snap-

Today's daily snap is of a sweet pea that is from a beautiful flower arrangement that I received from my love. The arrangement is gorgeous but this delicate little flower meant the most because I am his "sweet pea"

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- Love

Once you have learned to love,
You have learned to live.

Daily Snap-

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I hope that you are able to celebrate with the ones you love. Even though I'm not able to spend this day with my true love. I have been blessed to spend many other days with him and all the ones to come. As a military family you get use to not celebrating holidays on the days that everyone else celebrates them on. Sometimes Christmas may come in July or even in February. Everyone has their own way of making the best of  the time we have with our loved ones. I am very thankful to be a spouse now with all the technology that allows us to keep in touch. Yes, the internet connection may be crappy. Yes, the phone calls sound like you are talking to a robot but we are truly blessed. Way back when you didn't get mail for months and phone calls probably were non-existent. I'm glad that in my heart I know that I don't have to have a certain date on a calendar to know that I'm loved. I hope that you know that somebody loves you today, tomorrow and always. That they too don't need a calendar to remind them how special you are to them. May you be surrounded by love today and always.

Originally I was going to post Typhoon Trio's session as my valentine post but I already posted their session. Plus the daily snap is about posting a picture that is taken that day.
Today's photograph is of Miss R sporting her new custom made crochet hat from Fancy Schmancy Baby Boutique.

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- tribute

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true.
I am not bound to succeed,
but I am bound to live by the light that I have.
I must stand with anybody that stands right,
and stand with him while he is right,
and part with him when he goes wrong.

Daily Snap-

Feb 12th is Abraham Lincoln's birthday. Today's photograph is a tribute to him and his life's accomplishments.

I'm now the one under the weather. I could have sworn there's a rule somewhere that says Mami's don't get sick. We are going to just hang out at the house and snuggle. Who knows maybe Typhoon Trio will even take a nap today. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend surrounded by friends and family.

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- culling

Who showed the little ant the way
Her narrow hole to bore,
And spend the pleasant summer day
In laying up her store?

The sparrow builds her pretty nest
Of wool, and hay, and moss;
Who told her how to build it best,
And lay the twigs across?

Who taught the busy bee to fly
Among the sweetest flowers,
And lay his store of honey by,
To eat in winter hours?

'Twas God who showed them all the way,
And gave them all their skill;
He teaches children, if they pray,
To do his holy will.
- Julie Fox

 Daily Snap-

Today I have been a busy bee culling photographs from yesterday's session. I had so much fun but it doesn't end there. Once I get home I have to download the photographs, cull the photographs and then edited the final picks. Culling for me is the hardest because sometimes I get mommie goggles on and find myself torn between pictures. My goal as a photographer is to deliver the best photographs from the session that are technically correct and that they move the viewer. I'm so thankful for God's blessing of artistic skills because I'm able to share His love thru the photographs.

Today's Daily Snap is a picture of my computer screen because that's what I have been doing most of the day is being a busy bee.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you enjoyed this glorious day on Okinawa!!

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- new

I am not one who was born in the possession of knowledge;
I am one who is fond of antiquity, and earnest in seeking it there.
- Confucious

Daily Snap-

Today's Daily Snap is a photograph of  this Wednesday word challenge. With everything that was going on this week I'm surprise that I was able to get it done in time. I am currently doing a Project 365  on my own, a Project 52 with the MCP flickr group, and now the Wednesday word challenge.
This weeks word was New. Of course the first thing I thought of WoW wouldn't it be great if I were able to shoot a birth but no luck there. No new babies of mommies I knew were born this week. Then I started to think about the word new and finally decided to photograph the egg.
The egg represents so many new beginnings. A woman's ovum when it turns into a zygote is the beginning of a wonderful blessing. The use of eggs to represent the beginning of spring and the Lord's resurrection. In ancient cultures, eggs were a common symbol of new life or immortality.
So there you have it this wednesday word photograph is New. I had a lot of fun challenging myself as a photographer to think outside the box and to show thru photography what the word meant to me.

Please join the Wednesday Word Challenge
Next Wednesday's word,  good/better/best
Photographs must be taken between February 2nd and February 9th 2011.
We can post a list of participants at the bottom of each post.

Hope you have a wonderful night.
Typhoon Trio is still sick so please keep us in your thoughts.

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- stinky

Stinky feet and stinky toes
make me gotta hold my nose.
Daddy's great and Daddy's knows
my love for him just grows and grows

My Daddy loves my stinky toes,
He tickles them with his nose.
My Daddy loves my smelly feet,
He says they smell just like a rose
- unknown

Daily Snaps-
Originally I was going to do a picture of Milk Monster's and my feet together.  When I was reviewing the pictures on the camera. I just wasn't feeling it nothing really said "pick me". I was sitting at the dining room table as I glanced up to see what Milk Monster was doing I saw his feet. I thought that's it. I quickly clicked this photograph and before I could take another he moved away from the window. It's not a perfect technical image. As his Mami it's perfect for me. Tiny chubby little toes that he loves to place on my back when he sneaks into our bed at night. Those little toes that soon aren't going to be so little anymore. Yet, I will always have this photograph to see those perfect little toes once more.

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- mount washmore

Laundry
Crystal Felos

In the laundry room is my enemy.
Clothing piled taller than me.

Is it dirty, is it clean?
More laundry than one person has seen.

I tell the kids pick it off the floor.
Turn around and there is more.

Separate into little loads,
If I do more laundry I think I'll explode.

Start with whites, add some bleach.
Where did the sand come from we have no beach?

Throw in the dryer, add a sheet
Oh laundry has me beat.

Time for the blankets shove them in.
Now great the washer won't spin.

Buzzer goes off, time to fold.
Get me a maid? I think I'm sold.

Two loads in need more soap.
Should have got some, What a dope!

Back from store, now three loads in.
When will my laundry hell end?

Folding socks while others dry
Sock thief makes me want to cry.

It's now six, dinners not made.
Five more loads, I'm afraid!

Finally I have given in.
So I wear dirty clothes that's no sin.

Daily Snaps-

Sorry yesterday got away from me. Nothing exciting happened just spent a good 1/3 of the day conquering Mount Washmore. Then off to help make the 70s decorations for our annual squadron party. By the time we were done making over 60 flowers I was beat. Afterwards hurried back home to help make dinner and put Typhoon Trio to bed. After the babies were snugs as bugs in bed. I went and hung out with my DH at work. Unfortunately that was about the only way I was going to get to see him after this last week. =/

Here's Diego conquering my Mount Washmore .

Okinawa Photographer - Daily Snaps- project

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.
Henry David Thoreau

Daily Snaps-

The above photograph is a part of a larger photograph I'm designing. This year I am going to design and style a set to take photographs of  Typhoon Trio. I'm really excited because I love working with other medias also. I love to draw but with the birth of the twins and then Milk Monster I moved away from drawing and took up Photography. I thought at least I'll have all my photographs to ref back to later on in life when Typhoon Trio are older. So here's a small look into my project =)

Okinawa Photographer- Daily Snaps- photographer

There are always two people in every picture:
the photographer and the viewer
Ansel Adams

Daily Snaps -
Today, was another gloomy day with rain sprinkled here and there. Milk Monster and I went to a luncheon to celebrate a friend's birthday. Afterwards I asked to borrow the flowers she received as a present. I thought with all the cold and rain it would be nice to post some bright colors. Milk Monster is the little photographer in our house. He received his own vtech camera for Christmas because he wouldn't leave his sister's vtech camera alone. When he takes picture's He'll say "say Monkey" or "what does cookie monster say? "COOKIES!"' Not only because I'm his Mami but because I'm a photographer, I think it's ADORABLE. Today he asked my friend to borrow her camera. She took a great picture of him kneeling down next to me taking photos of the flowers with her phone. I can't wait to get a copy of it because I'm going to treasure it forever!
This is my Daily Snap, The Photograph of The Photographer.
I hope you love it as much as me.

Okinawa Photographer- Daily Snaps- rain

Rain

I open my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand-
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said-
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

Daily Snaps - 365 project
Yesterday felt like spring but not so much today. It was not only cold but it was wet out too. I am not a fan of being cold much less wet. While waiting for Typhoon Trio at the bus stop, I decided to take my Daily Snaps photograph. They say the best camera is the one you have with you. Mine just happens to be an iphone.
Hope you had a warm and dry day =)

A heart full all the time..

Daily Snaps

Today is the last day of winter break. No more waking up to Typhoon Trio's little adventures that turn my office area into a jungle with a pond that has a great white shark and a Killer whale in it. Tomorrow starts the "normal" hustle and bustle of the week. In some ways it's going to be good to get back to a schedule but at the same time I'm going to miss our long leisurely winter break days.

A Christmas Like Helens

"Tomorrow,
there will be peppermint sticks and popcorn balls,
toy trucks and sled fro your brother, and dolls for your sisters,
and the last box under the tree
will be a pair of skates just for you."

Daily Snaps - back to basics

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in life-
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.
-Joanna Fuchs

Hello!
Thank you for sitting a spell with me.
I'm sitting here drinking a cold coke while writing to you. In the back ground you can hear my DH doing "Quiet time" with Typhoon Trio. It sounds like he is reading a holiday book from the library.  Not the usual princess or Dr. Seuss story. Approximately a week ago I shared with everyone on the Rising Sun Memories Facebook Page that we were going to decorate our Christmas tree this year with handmade ornaments.

Our first project for Operation Decorate was the Apple Cinnamon Ornaments. I did a little research and went with the recipe found on a teacher site called KinderArt. Here is the link to the Apple Cinnamon Ornament recipe. The only thing I did different was I opted not to add the glue. We have Italian Greyhounds that love to eat anything that looks yummy. Plus, I'm sure Milk Monster would have definitely tried to eat them had it had glue. We made six batches of one to one ratio recipe for our tree which is approx 7 ft tall. Here are a couple of pictures of Typhoon Trio helping out with one of the batches.

Mr. K was very intense on making sure it was all even

Miss R made sure to use every inch of dough area

Milk Monster was very proud that he used all the cookie cutters.

The first handmade ornaments - 6 batches of apple cinnamon

A little closer please ;)

We had a lot of fun as a family doing the first project. Our next project we are going to use peppermints? Any guess on what we are going to make???

Make sure to share with us your ideas on handmade ornaments!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!!!
Come back and visit us soon =)

Daily Snaps - colorful moments

There's too many kids in this tub.
There's too many elbows to scrub.
I just washed a behind
That wasn't mine.
There's too many kids in this tub.

Daily Snaps - Thirsty???

The Soda Song

Shake it up and here we go
Sizzle, fizzle, overflow
It can come in a bottle
It can come in a can
It's bubbly, it's bubbly
It's soda, man!

Take a sip--it's sweet and tarty
Now what's that sound? Your mouth is havin' a party
10 good drinks? It's at the top!
It's soda pop! It's soda pop!

You need need a drink on a hot summer's day
You need soda, soda hear me say!
But drink it all at once or you'll say "rats!"
'Cause your bottle of soda will go kinda flat.

It goes good with everything-- the ld and new
You can have it with breakfast, lunch and dinner too!
Drink some soda like you should
Any kind of soda will do you good

So drink it today. nothin' can really go wrong
And now, you've heard the soda song!

Today's Daily Snap is a little early. My DH is working late again. So Typhoon Trio and I are going to spend some quality time reading. Have a wonderful night with your love ones!! What do you do during your down time?

Today's Daily Snap!!!!

Here's a picture from today's drive out in the Okinawa agricultural area. In the picture you will notice there's a soda machine. It not only sells cold sodas, waters and juices but it sells hot/cold coffees. What's funny about this is you can be out in the middle of no where up in the mountains and you will find a soda machine. They are everywhere. Sometimes there's only one but most of the time there's three machines one next to the other. My favorite drink is the peach water. OMG the best drink ever!!!

If you are ever here on Okinawa. You will not go thirsty as long as you have some yen =) !

Make sure to check out Kristi and Jessica's Photo-A-Day challenge too.
Please, leave us some blog love.
It always makes us smile =)

Daily Snaps - Candy Man

Candy Man

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew
Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two
The candy man, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a strawberry-lemon pie
The candy man?
The candy man, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

Willy Wonka makes everything he bakes
Satisfying and delicious
Talk about your childhood wishes
You can even eat the dishes

Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream
The candy man, Willy Wonka can, the candy man can
The candy man can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

And the world taste good'
Cause the candy man thinks it should
-Roald Dahl

Daily Snaps is going to be a daily blog post of an isolated observation into my life. If you have frequented the blog before you have noticed I'm not a writer but I am going to join my friend Kristi and her sister Jessica on a Photo-A-Day Challenge.  I was inspired by Kristi to do my "Daily Snaps" because it will give me the opportunity to write. Like I said before I'm not a writer so please don't expect anything eloquent. But do expect to share a moment in my life thru photographs and a few words. This will be honest journalling from the heart. I will talk to you like if I were talking to my wifie. That's my cohort who is there with me thru times that are so sad that you laugh about it just to get by, scrapped knees, endless deployments, and simple touch your heart moments that make you smile just remembering about them.

Now to talk about this daily snap. My desk is located in our living room where I do all of my editing. (on my wish list with many other things is a laptop). Milk Monster was playing with some toys and stated he was going to go upstairs and play in the playroom. I said okay. After a bit I realized that it was awfully quiet. Which with a two year old its definitely not a good thing. Right??? So I grabbed my camera and this is where I found him. Relaxing with all the pillows propped up with a fist full of twizzlers and a empty box on my bed. All and all it could have been worse at least he wasn't into the baby powder like last time. No pictures of that but I'm sure it will happen again.

Since I missed last night's post I will have two post today!!!
Let's see if I can write more than one sentence then too =)
See you in a little bit!

Thank you Kristi for being such a great friend and the chance to join you and your sister on this challenge

Please, make sure to visit Kristi at Kristi James Photography and Jessica at Jessica Ann Photography for their Photo-A-Day.
