Okinawa Photographer - adrift

Cherry Blossom Adrift

Pink petals passing
Scents above so high
Painted porcelain perfection
Blossoms caress the sky

Swaying silent Shroud
Suitors strolling by
Pink petals passing
Lover's gentle sigh

Pastel hues falling
Slow fluttering grace
Pink petals passing
Lining streams in lace

Pink petals passing
Smoothest transit by
Soft essence floating
In most subtle lullaby

Inducing springtime slumber
Upon a satin shore
Sailing with the current
Pink petals pass before

A Christmas Like Helens

"Tomorrow,
there will be peppermint sticks and popcorn balls,
toy trucks and sled fro your brother, and dolls for your sisters,
and the last box under the tree
will be a pair of skates just for you."

Okinawa Photographer - forever

Let Every Day Be Christmas

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself...
- Norman Wesley Brooks, 1976

Okinawa Photographer - time you have

Life is short.
Make the most of the time you have.
Every second and every minute counts.
Hug a little tighter.
Laugh a little longer.
Yell a little less.
Forget about the mess.
And remember that the very most important things
are those that depend on us the very most.
Our children.
and our families.

Quiet Night Thoughts

I wake and moonbeams play around my bed
Glittering like hoarfrost to my wondering eyes
Upwards the glorious moon I raise my head
Then lay me down and thoughts of home arise

Daily Snaps - back to basics

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in life-
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.
-Joanna Fuchs

Hello!
Thank you for sitting a spell with me.
I'm sitting here drinking a cold coke while writing to you. In the back ground you can hear my DH doing "Quiet time" with Typhoon Trio. It sounds like he is reading a holiday book from the library.  Not the usual princess or Dr. Seuss story. Approximately a week ago I shared with everyone on the Rising Sun Memories Facebook Page that we were going to decorate our Christmas tree this year with handmade ornaments.

Our first project for Operation Decorate was the Apple Cinnamon Ornaments. I did a little research and went with the recipe found on a teacher site called KinderArt. Here is the link to the Apple Cinnamon Ornament recipe. The only thing I did different was I opted not to add the glue. We have Italian Greyhounds that love to eat anything that looks yummy. Plus, I'm sure Milk Monster would have definitely tried to eat them had it had glue. We made six batches of one to one ratio recipe for our tree which is approx 7 ft tall. Here are a couple of pictures of Typhoon Trio helping out with one of the batches.

Mr. K was very intense on making sure it was all even

Miss R made sure to use every inch of dough area

Milk Monster was very proud that he used all the cookie cutters.

The first handmade ornaments - 6 batches of apple cinnamon

A little closer please ;)

We had a lot of fun as a family doing the first project. Our next project we are going to use peppermints? Any guess on what we are going to make???

Make sure to share with us your ideas on handmade ornaments!

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!!!
Come back and visit us soon =)

Okinawa Lifestyle Photographer - daddy's hands

"I remember Daddy´s hands, how they held my Mama tight,
And patted my back, for something done right.
There are things that I´ve forgotten, that I loved about the man,
But I´ll always remember the love in Daddy´s hands.

Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin´.
Daddy´s hands, were hard as steel when I´d done wrong.
Daddy´s hands, weren´t always gentle
But I´ve come to understand.
There was always love in Daddy´s hands."
- Dunn Holly - Milestones

WoW, I can't believe that this year has almost come to an end. It's been full of many blessing! One of which has been having the BEST clients on Okinawa. My dream became a reality because of you and for this I am truly thankful.

Today was my last session before starting my winter vacation =) I had the pleasure of meeting Miss "E" and her Mami and Daddy in November but she was a little under the weather. We decided to reschedule Miss "E's" photography session for today.

Today, we meet over at the Southeast Botanical Gardens and Little Miss "E" was definitely feeling a lot better. She was full of smiles and was talking up a storm. During the session she sounded like she was trying to say "dada" which was too cute. Little Miss "E" turned 6 months old today. It was a perfect day to capture a wonderful milestone for Mami and Daddy!

Today was a perfect session to start off my vacation. Thank you so much Little Miss "E"! We are booking photography sessions for 2011. This next year is going to be full of FUN mini sessions! Keep an eye out here for announcements on the SPECIALS. Make sure to book your sessions a few weeks in advance to guarantee your session date. Our first Special for January is here. It's not to soon to be thinking about Valentine's Day gift ;) *hint*hint*

During December 11th 2010 to January 7th 2011 RSM will be on vacation. We will be booking a limited amount of NEWBORN sessions during this time frame. Make sure to book those ASAP. Baby due in January??? Please make sure to contact me now to book your session.

Even though we will be on vacation don't forget to stop by and check out some post about Typhoon Trio!

Happy Holidays!
May you be blessed today and always

tell us a little bit about you
I had always enjoyed art and craft when I was in school. I followed my passion and got into Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1992, took a 3 years Graphic Design course. During this 3 years, I learned a lot about the principle of designs, colour combinations, commercial products design and also photography. I worked as a designer for many years until I decided to quit my job to start a family. Now I have 2 beautiful children, my elder son is 5 1/2 years old and my daughter is 2 1/2 years old. Having kids made my life complete and I always wanted the best for them.

how long have you been making hair accessories?

When I started buying hair clips for my daughter, I noticed that the hair clips that I can find in the local stores are very limited and I ordered some pretty ones from foreign websites but they all have a problem, the metal clips get rusty only after wearing it for a few times! I get so frustrated seeing those beautiful hair clips going to waste because it couldn’t be used anymore. I guess it cannot be avoided due to our humid weather in Singapore and those sweaty foreheads really speed up the rusting process! So that was how I decided to make my own hair clips, beautiful hair clips that are finely handmade with high quality felt and best of all, STAINLESS STEEL clips that will not get rusty.

your style?

The main material I used is felt. I love working with felt as it is very versatile, it can be easily moulded into shapes, it is colourful, it does not fray and it is very light in weight. You can hardly feel the weight even if it has been made into a big bunch of flowers.
I designed hair clips and headbands for infants through adults. My headbands are very versatile as the flowers are detachable and can be used as hair clips alone.

hopes for the future? (for business and life)

I hope to introduce and share my creations with more people and hope that they can enjoy every single piece of my creation too.
In life, I hope that I can continue to do what I love most - art and craft, for as long as I can!
